Your Cat's Bad Breath Isn't Just 'Cat Breath': 4 Dental Care Tips That Work (Even for Difficult Cats)

Days 1–5: Simply touch your cat's muzzle and gently lift their lip for a second or two. Reward with a treat immediately. That's the whole session — keep it brief and positive.
Days 6–10: Put a tiny amount of cat toothpaste on your finger and let them sniff and lick it. Then gently run your finger along their gum line. Reward right after.
Days 11–17: Try a dental wipe or finger brush with a small amount of toothpaste. Aim for 10–20 seconds. Reward generously.
Week 3 and beyond: If your cat is relaxed, introduce the toothbrush. Work toward 30–60 seconds over the following weeks.
